Located at 1425 Winnifred Street in Charlotte’s bustling South End neighborhood, Oaklore Bar & Bottle Shop is an innovative hospitality hybrid. It serves as a living extension of Oaklore Distilling Co., a microdistillery originally founded in Matthews, North Carolina, by friends Matt Simpkins and Thomas Bogan. The centerpiece of the intimate 900-square-foot establishment is a premium cocktail bar specializing in craft and classic mixology. Every signature cocktail is built using Oaklore’s own award-winning, locally produced spirits—including their distinctive four-grain bourbon, straight rye whiskey, vodka, gin, and rum. What truly sets Oaklore apart from traditional establishments is its built-in retail bottle shop. Because it is operated directly by the distillery, it circumvents standard state ABC store restrictions, making it one of the very few venues in Charlotte permitted to sell packaged liquor bottles to-go on Sunday’s. While the indoor space features a sleek bar layout with garage doors that open to the street, patrons can also head across the road to partner concept Orosoko Sound Bar to order Latin-Asian fusion street food from their “O-To-Go” window. Between its “Flight Nights,” unique Sunday retail access, and hyper-local focus, Oaklore offers a seamless “sip-and-shop” experience for spirits enthusiasts in Charlotte.
