The Cornelius Animal Shelter garage addition, approved in late 2021 and completed later, was a much-needed project designed to safely bring animals in from the elements and provide secure unloading for the animal control truck, fulfilling a plan from the original 2009 building concept. This addition, funded by donations and developed with the original architects, added a functional, attached garage and small storage rooms, enhancing shelter operations by keeping the lobby clear and improving animal welfare during intake, making the process safer and more efficient for staff and pets.
