Resident Culture Brewing Co. at 2101 Central Ave is the flagship location of one of Charlotte’s most acclaimed craft breweries. Nestled in the heart of Plaza Midwood, this 15-barrel brewhouse opened in 2017 and has since become a national destination for beer enthusiasts, known for its “funky, hop-forward, and community-driven” philosophy. The taproom features an “industrial-gritty” aesthetic characterized by high ceilings, local art, and iconic, surrealist murals by artist-in-residence Maryssa Pickett. It balances a neighborhood hangout feel with a high-energy social scene. It boasts one of the largest and most popular dog-friendly patios in the city, frequently packed with locals, families, and travelers. Resident Culture is globally recognized for its Hazy IPAs (specifically Lightning Drops), crisp Lagers, and a sophisticated Barrel-Aged and Wild Ale program. The on-site kitchen serves elevated Mexican street food. Signature items include Al Pastor Tacos, Birria Quesatacos, and house-made salsas that pair perfectly with their draft list. The Plaza Midwood location is a cultural hub, hosting a dense event calendar that includes vintage clothing markets, vinyl record fairs, and “cult-classic” movie screenings.
