Free Range Brewing, located at 2320 N. Davidson St. in the heart of Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood, is a family-owned brewery dedicated to “locally rooted” craft beer. Since opening in 2015, brothers Jason and Jeff Alexander have focused on a farm-to-glass philosophy, utilizing ingredients from local foragers and regional farmers. Known for its creative and seasonal rotations, the taplist often features wild ales, saisons, and farmhouse styles. Signature brews like Cream of the Crop (a Carolina cream ale) and Jenny’s Ginger (a sparkling ginger cider) showcase their commitment to regional flavors. The taproom boasts a warm, “industrial-rustic” aesthetic with reclaimed wood, local art, and an open layout. It is famously family-friendly, featuring a dedicated kids’ play nook, and is highly dog-friendly. The space serves as a literal community center, hosting a wide array of events including yoga, film screenings, book clubs, and local markets. They also operate a second location, Free Range Bar at Camp North End, which focuses on a smaller curation of their taps alongside cocktails. While they don’t have a full kitchen, they frequently host local food trucks and are adjacent to popular spots like Rhino Market.
