Taproom Social was a pioneer in Uptown Charlotte’s craft beer scene, recognized as the city’s first self-pour taproom. Located at 430 W. 4th Street, directly across from the left-field gate of the Truist Field (formerly BB&T Ballpark), it offered a high-tech, self-service experience using the iPourIt system. This self-serve feature offers 50 total taps, allowing patrons to pour their own drinks and pay by the ounce. This setup encouraged guests to sample a variety of brews at their own pace. The tap wall typically included 40 local craft beers and 7 wines or proseccos, along with non-alcoholic options like kombucha, cold brew coffee, and local soda. The 2,400-square-foot space was designed with a casual and trendy vibe, featuring 11 TVs for sports and a kid-friendly area, making it a popular stop for families and fans heading to Charlotte Knights games. While primarily focused on drinks, Taproom Social maintained an open kitchen serving as well. Taproom Social is now permanently closed. It should not be confused with “The Taproom” located at Charlotte Douglas International Airport or “Bulldog Taproom/Social” in South End, which remain active under different management.
