Title: Office Manager
Kate was born in Missouri and grew up moving around living in five different states. She graduated from Covenant College with a BA in Business Administration. She started her career in Nashville, TN in the music business, then moved into the marketing field. This took her to Boston, MA to continue her career in marketing systems for 10 years.
Kate moved to North Carolina in 2001 to be closer to her family. Over the next 10 years she worked as the Office Manager for her brother, a General Contractor and her husband’s used car business.
Kate became a member of the Gais Construction family in 2010 as the Office Manager and is responsible for contracts, invoicing, payroll, HR, AR/AP, financials, accounting, insurance, legal, and implementation of processes throughout the company. She is in the office on Wednesdays, but otherwise works from home so she can homeschool her three boys and enjoy watching them play soccer, their favorite sport.

Title: Facilitator/Admin. Asst.
Melissa was born in Hartford, Connecticut, however, she has lived in several other states up and down the east coast, including Vermont and Florida. Melissa has resided in North Carolina now since August of 2011. Before joining Gais in September of 2019, Melissa worked as a Paralegal for 13 years in Connecticut, specializing in residential real estate closings. After moving to North Carolina, she worked for Lincoln County Schools for 7 years, where she was able to enjoy having summers off with her two children.
While not at work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, traveling with her daughter on her modeling adventures, watching her son play collegiate soccer, and cooking.

Title: Estimator
Kirk was born in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, but raised in High Point, NC. Atlanta, GA and Alliance, OH. Kirk’s first construction job was cleaning up jobsites at the age of 12, and he worked his way up to be a mason’s helper. Later he had his own roofing and remodeling business, and he has also worked in residential construction with several national builders.
Kirk has a degree in Architectural & Civil Engineering from Stark State University, and a Project Management degree from Malone University, both universities located in Canton, OH.
Kirk has been with Gais Construction since October, 2024. Kirk is married with two grown children who both live in Ohio. While not at work, he enjoys playing racquetball and helping his wife with the greenhouse.
